Olly Jefferies wins 2013 Winter nationals

Ollie Jefferies

Gloucester club congratulates Olly on his continued winning form by being crowned BRCA Winter National champion.

Olly's current sponsors had the following to say:

After finishing in the runner-up position the previous two years, Reedy/AE/LRP team driver Olly Jefferies broke through this year by winning the Race of Champions with a perfect score. Unlike other events where qualifying seeds drivers into main events, the top thirty two drivers from the one hundred strong field went forward to the Race of Champions, which was comprised of eight rounds of head-to-head racing with four races per round. Drivers received points based on their finish in each race and the races were randomized for each round so that each driver had the opportunity to race as many other racers as possible from different positions on the grid. Once the head-to-head races got underway, Olly and his Reedy/LRP-powered TC6.1 WC started putting the pressure on the other competitors with a series of strong finishes. At the start of day two he was definitely in control and clinched the title in the seventh race with his sixth win.

Olly Jefferies wins national 12th scale stock, modified and 10th touring car

Ollie champ

Gloucester's most successful racer, Olly Jefferies, has won the National BRCA Touring Car championship. Beating ex world champion Andy Moore and multiple British champion Chris Grainger. A razor sharp victory at the Mendip circuit gave the BRCA National championship a fitting finale to this years championship.

Olly's sponsors had the following to say:

Heading into the fifth and final round of this season's BRCA National Touring Car Series at Mendip, Olly Jefferies was one of five drivers still mathematically in contention for the title. Olly struggled at the BRCA warm-up meeting and was looking to rebound with a strong showing after making some subtle setup changes to his Reedy-powered TC6.1.

Obviously heading in the right direction with his changes, Olly set the fastest time in both qualifying rounds 1 and 2. Now the question was whether to use another set of new tires or save them for the final? Olly took advantage of the fact that he was quick with used tires and set another fastest time to secure the pole position for Sunday's A-final.

Lining up in the second position was Chris Kerswell, with Elliott Harper in third. Andy Moore, who saved two sets of new tires for the final, looked to take advantage of fresh rubber from his fourth qualifying position.

In A-final leg #1, Olly lead wire to wire, which relieved the pressure a little as he was now within striking distance of the title. One more win would clinch the round win and the Championship.

Olly once again led the field away in leg #2. Andy Moore made a good start and piled the pressure on as they went head-to-head for the BRCA title. Olly withstood the pressure and crossed the line ahead of Moore to take the win and, more importantly, the 2012 BRCA National Touring Car Championship.

Olly adds this touring car title to the stock and modified 1:12 national titles he won earlier in the year and in doing so notches up another title for the Reedy / Team Associated brand.

Congratulations to Olly from all the team at Gloucester. Olly is only the second person to win both the Touring Car and 12th scale National championships in the same year. David Spachett is the only other driver to ever achieve this fantastic achievement.
